Red House School seeks to appoint an inspirational and dynamic classroom practitioner as Head of Physics with effect from 1 September 2024. The successful applicant will join a department which enjoys an excellent reputation and they will be able to teach Physics up to GCSE, and be a well-qualified leader and creative Head of Department, with ambition, clear vision, energy and excellent communication skills, who leads by example.
The Science Department is a very successful department within the school, teaching small groups in newly refurbished, purpose-built labs. Excellent results are achieved at GCSE in all three sciences, for pupils of all abilities. Each of the Sciences has a Head of Department, with a Head of Science overseeing the department as a whole. You will be joining a thriving team.
The vacancy has arisen following the decision of the current incumbent, Mrs Julie Gresswell, Head of Physics and Head of Science, to move to a pastoral role at Sedbergh School from September 2024.
In addition to finding an exceptional teacher, we are seeking to appoint an individual who is excited by the opportunity to build on the department’s success and has a clear vision for how this will continue during the coming years. This role provides great scope for imagination and innovation from the right candidate, and will require creativity, energy and a sense of adventure.
For the right candidate, the role of Head of Science may be considered, which attracts a TLR 2b allowance.
Red House is a wonderful school, for boys and girls between 3 and 16 years, in the beautiful village of Norton on Teesside. It provides an excellent, inspirational, holistic education to 360 pupils. Results at GCSE are excellent, as is the pastoral care offered to our pupils. The children also participate in an extensive co-curricular programme and Red House sees considerable success in sport.
Interested candidates may contact the Head of Science, Mrs Julie Gresswell, for an informal conversation. She is available on the school number or via email at Julie.Gresswell@redhouseschool.co.uk
